Oscoda Area Schools' Wellness PolicyIf you would like to be a part of the Wellness Committee, please contact Jan Sancrant, Food Service Director, at sancrantj@oscodaschools.org.

We are pleased to inform you that Oscoda Area Schools will be participating in an option available to eligible schools as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2018-2019 School Year.

The GREAT NEWS is that ALL STUDENTS enrolled at our school district are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at NO CHARGE to your household each day of the 2018-2019 school year.

However, in order for the school district to benefit from various State and Federal supplemental programs such as Title I A, At Risk {31a), Title II A, E- Rate, etc., it is IMPERATIVE that you fill out, sign, and return the Household Information Survey. This survey is needed for administrative purposes, not to establish eligibility. The survey is critical in determining the amount of money the school receives from a variety of supplemental programs. All information submitted on the survey is confidential. Without your assistance, the school district will not be able to maximize utilization of available State and Federal funds.  Please click here to get a copy of the survey.

Please fill out the Household Information Survey and bring it to Open House on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. You will get a free meal for your family in exchange for the filled out survey I If you cannot attend Open House, please have you child bring the completed form to school on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

If we can be of any further assistance, please contact us at negroc@oscodaschools.org. Sincerely,

Charles Negro

Charging Meals

Parents and guardians must plan for their child to have sufficient access to food at school on each school day and must actively monitor and manage their child’s school food service account. There are several options to check on food service accounts. Parent can check with food service cashier at the school or call the Food Service Office at (989) 739-2401 to check their students’ balances. Students are given notes to take home or are verbally informed when their account is getting low. Automated School Messenger calls and low balance emails are sent out twice a week if account is in negative. E link is our online account system that allows parents to view student accounts from any computer. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO REGULARY CHECK YOUR CHILDS ACCOUNT BALANCE.

Students with negative account balances will not be allowed to purchase ala-carte items. Your student account is not a charge account. Negative amounts must be paid in order for your student to continue getting school meals. Richardson Elementary School and Oscoda High School students will be allowed to charge up to five lunches, and then account must be paid up in full. Student over the charge limit will be asked to call home and notify their parent/guardian. The student will receive a substitute lunch as determined by food service staff.

Families having financial difficulties are asked to contact food service department to make other arrangements.
